Science and Innovation
Carrying out of scientific researches is one of the leading directions of ETU activity, as well as scientific and technical base for developing innovative educational programs and technologies of training specialists for the country.
The main ETU research directions correspond to the priority development areas of science, engineering and technology in Kazakhstan such as rational use of natural resources, processing of raw materials and products; power engineering and machine building; intellectual potential of the country. The main part of the works conducted at the university is financed and carried out within the framework of the state order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for budget programs. In 2012-2014 the university conducted research work by the use of grant financing for basic and applied scientific research programs for a total amount of KZT 63,764 thousand that included ones titled “Virtual interactive methods for studying the increase in oil recovery from reservoirs and the construction of gas turbines to increase energy efficiency based on information technology” in the amount of KZT 16,000 thousand; “Development and introduction of controlling technologies in organizations focused on results and innovations” in the amount of KZT 12 000 thousand; “Development of a wind-driven lift for grazing livestock” in the amount of KZT 35,764 thousand.
In 2015-2017 the University won the following grant financing for research work upon basic and applied research programs for 2015 for a total amount of KZT 25 051 thousand: “Development of a universal microwave-convection module for grain drying and disinfection: maximum productivity, minimum energy costs” in the amount of KZT 9,000 thousand; “Innovative decision on the use of microwave for the production of dairy products” in the amount of KZT 5000 thousand; “Young people and religious sects: pedagogical models for their prevention” in the amount of KZT 3051.1 thousand; “Virtual interactive methods to study the increase in oil recovery from reservoirs and the design of gas turbines to increase energy efficiency based on information technology” in the amount of KZT 8,000 thousand.
The departments of the university annually carry out initiative and search works with the registration and submission of reports to National Center for Scientific and Technical Information JSC: “Modern problems of information technologies and modeling of production processes.” Р.No.0109РК00743; “Problems of development of the content and form of teaching the university specialty – vocational training”. P. No.0110 РК00018; “Scientific and technical studies of problems and prospects for the development of the transport complex and machine engineering”. P.No.0110 РК00006;

In addition, the University participates in the international project titled Regional Teachers Training Network (professional pedagogy / didactics) in Central Asian countries, together with Germany from 2009 to 2018.
ETU has reached agreements on cooperation with scientific institutions for conducting joint scientific research. The results of scientific studies of the university teaching staff are reflected in the reports and in the publications of scientific articles. A total of 1151 scientific articles were published in the last 5 years, including in 2014 – 290, of which 32 were published in the far abroad, 46 – in the near abroad, 182 – in Kazakhstan, 30 – in editions with impact factor. The analysis of scientific publications of the ETU teaching staff has shown an increase in the number of publications in the editions of the far and near abroad for the last 3 years. A positive trend is an increase in the number of articles published in international peer-reviewed scientific publications.
